A recent article in The Nevada Independent highlights a just released report from the Guinn Center and the unfortunate reality that hunger and food insecurity continue to worsen nationwide and especially in Nevada.

“The report cited 2023 data from Feeding America, which found that 15 percent of Nevadans — or nearly 482,000 people — experience food insecurity, a little higher than the national average of 14 percent. One in 4 Nevada children are food insecure, also above the national average.”

At LSSN, we are experiencing record numbers of our neighbors seeking food from our pantry and meals through our Senior Meal program.

We are so proud that LSSN is rising to the occasion to meet this surging demand but we need more resources to increase our capacity to assist everyone who is coming to us for help.

That is why we are excited to announce the launch of our 1985 Society, a new group of business, church, and community leaders whose generous support will enable LSSN to serve more people than ever.

We hope you will become a Founding Member of the 1985 Society in recognition of the founding of LSSN’s work 40 years ago this year. Membership begins at just $85 per month.

Entering our fifth decade of service is a milestone only a few local organizations have achieved and is a testament to LSSN’s durability and the importance of our mission to uplift and support people in need.
